High-quality miniature cars that are not toys, but rather collectibles and interior design, as well as being owned and collected by actual owners of the same model of car, used to be in 1/43 or 1/18 scale, but in recent years, the smaller 1/64 scale has become increasingly popular.

Collecting many models in 1/18 or 1/43 scale would not only result in high prices, but would also tend to limit the space available for storing them. The demand for 1/64 scale miniature cars is increasing because there is no need to worry about where to store them even if they increase.

In addition to TSM’s “MINI GT”, a popular brand of 1/64 scale miniature cars, many new miniature car brands, mainly based in Macau and Hong Kong, such as “PGM(Private goods model)”, “BM CREATIONS”, “POP RACE”, “Era Car”, and “PARA64”, have entered the market. More high quality brands such as “Ignition Model” and “Titan” of MAKE UP are being released one after another.

Prices for 1/64 scale miniature cars for collectors, with the exception of a few HotWheels, range from around 1,000 yen ($10) to as high as 10,000 yen ($100).

As the prices of 1/18 and 1/43 scales are soaring, the popularity of high-quality miniature cars in 1/64 scale is likely to increase in the future.
